 Bumblebee Species

BEK has us laughing today with this funny comic talking about bumblebees. While the comic is funny – the real knowledge of this bombus isn’t – Once thriving in 28 states and the District of Columbia, over the past two decades, the bee’s population has plummeted nearly 90 percent. There are more than 4,000 bee species in the United States, and about 40 belong to the genus Bombus—the bumblebees.

Butterflies and songbirds depend on leaf litter. Over winter months, butterflies and moths as pupa or caterpillar are in the leaf litter. When you rake it up, you are removing the whole population of butterflies. Without insects in the leaf litter, you also drive away birds looking for food to feed their offspring.

Anyone who thinks they’re too small to make a difference, has never met the honey bee.

Farmers need beekeepers and beekeepers need farmers.

When bees thrive we all thrive 🐝😊
