You may not know the answer to this, and if not that’s ok!! But how come wild nests don’t fall out of trees due to the weight? Are bees and wasps just that good at building their funky lil homes?
Honeybees typically build their hives -inside- of trees or other cavities so unless the whole branch falls they’re super secure.
And wasp nests are usually secured to more and more branches and leaves etc as they grow, so when they get heavier they can still be supported. They also are abandoned when it freezes, so they never really reach a critical level of heaviness that would cause them to fall.
