They’re swarming. Right on top of all of their comb. Just leaving. I have scouts on three empty boxes and I just know that it’s these bees. They are so, so very much not smart.

If they do leave, I’m giving their comb to Gilder next door. It’s too pretty to let go to waste like that.

Oh my god, what dummies. With any luck they’ll just move into one of your empty boxes. Or, maybe they’re just splitting…?

They can’t possibly have made a second queen that fast. And there are still a bunch of beebs down in the box on the comb, so I honestly don’t know what is happening. If my suit wasn’t in the dryer I would just scoop them up in to the box and close them in, but alas. I am suitless.

I’ve had queens freak out about lack of space before and leave with their flighted workers, and the hive raise an emergency queen… but yeah, seems super weird 😡 Maybe you’ll get lucky and they’ll still be hanging out when your suit dries?

I can only hope. And there’s plenty of space. I put the empty medium on top because they were all balled up there when I first put them there. And the deep below them is empty as well.
