Popped the lid off of the new swarm to make sure they were building right. Of course they weren’t. They had a fist sized piece of comb across two frames. I pulled it out and put wax pattern over by the wall to hopefully encourage them to build along the frames. I really should start making starter strips for my frames. As much as I hate using foundation it seems necessary.

Oof, that sucks. I’ve had good luck only having two empty frames next to each other, with already-drawn comb in the middle. They seem to prefer to build on either side of the existing comb, so if you have any spare drawn comb it might be worth seeing if that works? I too don’t really like foundation.

Yeah I usually put one old frame in them. I just wanted to see if I could get a swarm to start right without the help. All my current comb is rather… Dirty.
