Did you know that bees store fat just like us? Except instead of storing it on the inside of their bodies, they store it in “scales” of wax on their underside! They make these scales, then vibrate their wings super fast to make lots of heat. This heat melts the wax just enough so the bee can manipulate the wax scales and build honeycomb with them! Honeybee wax is also perfectly crystal clear at first, but turns darker and darker yellow as the bees walk all over it and store things in it.
